An overview on Zero Waste Regulation developments in Turkey

Ministry of Environment and Urbanization officially supporting Entech Expo posted Zero Waste Regulation draft on its official website
 
The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has posted a second draft on Zero Waste. The Zero Waste Regulation Draft drawn up by the Ministry in line with the principles of sustainability aims to prevent waste generation or at least minimize it in the cases where it is not possible.
 
Unlike the previous draft, the new regulation draft that contains general principles and application principles for the establishment of the Zero Waste Management System involves public and private sectors.
 
 
Moreover, it adopts the following as principles: to accumulate and collect wastes according to their characteristics, prioritize recycling of waste collected separately, send and dispose of the unexploited segments properly to avoid creating environmental pollution and manage raw materials and natural resources effectively.
 
In case the draft is implemented, municipalities and shopping centers, organized industrial zones, public institutions and organizations with more than 1000 employees, educational institutions with more than 100 students, workplaces with more than 100 employees, industrial enterprises, 4 and 5 star hotels and health institutions with 50 or more bed capacity will be asked to convert to Zero Waste System and they will be obliged to obtain a Zero Waste Certificate.
